Ice Scales

This material was creating for my Ice Dragon. This was one of the more complicated materials I’ve created. Getting the basic shape of the scales was relatively easy but trying to break up their uniformity so that the overall material didn’t look so tiled proved to be rather difficult. As one of my first materials, I attempted to solve this problem with a large amount of noises and warps to produce different light and dark areas of the scales. In addition I added lots of grunge and scratch marks across the scales to give a sense of the environment that the dragon would live in.
