Zicon Zero

Zicon Zero is a three dimensional flight simulator game in space. The player navigates a dynamic asteroid belt while trying to destroy an endless number of aliens spawning from portals floating in space within the playable space. Play continues until the player dies. The goal of the game is for the player to achieve the highest score they can before they die.

The game was developed with the Unity game engine. I worked on the game in a team of four group members over the course of a college semester. I programmed the player movement, the enemy AI, the physics, asteroid movement, particle effects, and part of the collision logic.

My team and I developed the game for a course at Lawrence Technological University called Integrated Game Studio. The course required us to come up with a game concept and develop the game from start to finish. This involved tasks such as coming up with a pitch for our professors to approve the project, occasional presentations on game progress, publicly hosted game testing sessions, collecting feedback from players and making edits as necessary, and marketing. The final for the course was presenting the game at an event hosted at the university called LTU X. LTU X is an anime con and gaming expo that hosts 1,200 people each year. This presentation involved hosting a booth for a six hour period with decorations, business cards, and small takeaways like a button with the game logo and letting people come up and play the game. We sat at the booth, helped players as need be, and collected feedback via oral communication and a survey we had hosting on a separate monitor at our table.

A link to the project and LTU X are posted below:
