Stylized Grass

This material was created as part of my Shader Environment project. The texture I needed for grass shader could easily have been produced in Photoshop using an alpha channel but I saw this as an opportunity to experiment with warp noises in Substance Designer. I started with a waveform node to create the basic shape of a blade of grass and then used gradients to control the warping of the blade grass while keeping its base geometry in the same position. I then varied this same process for remaining blades of grass. I focused on leaving a strong outline around the edges of the grass to help reinforce their shape after being scaled down in the scene. I wanted their cartoon-like shape to be noticeable in the scene to help create uniformity with the other objects.
